Dr Philip MacCarthy
 

Dr MacCarthy qualified at Bristol University Medical School and trained in Cardiology in Oxford, Cardiff and King’s College Hospital, London. He also undertook a period of advanced angioplasty training in one of the worlds leading cardiac hospitals in Belgium.

He has a busy General Cardiology practice, covering all aspects of cardiology, but has a subspecialty interest in coronary angioplasty and stenting. His research interests include applied coronary physiology, use of the coronary pressure wire, endothelial and myocardial function. He has published his research widely in all of these areas and obtained several peer-reviewed grants to pursue his ongoing research programme.
